The Boeing Business Jet began as a factory modification of the Boeing 737-700 airliner and now three 737-based versions — the BBJ1, BBJ2 and BBJ3, respectively based on the 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900ER — are flying. Boeing has seen competition from Airbus’s Airbus Corporate Jetliner, similarly based on the A319/A320 family, though the BBJ3 is the largest existing business jet, and can be fitted for up to 50 passengers. The cabins can include numerous luxuries, including master bedrooms, full bathrooms with showers, and dining and living spaces. Since 1998 Boeing has put out about 100 BBJs, and, more recently, the company has begun developing models based on the 777 and 787.
