Since the mid-1990s, Embraer’s ERJ 145 family has provided jets for short-haul, regional service to airlines such as American Eagle and Chautauqua. More than 1,000 ERJ-family jets already have been built, including the Embraer Legacy 600 business jet. The Legacy 600 debuted in 2000, with extra fuel tanks and increased range over the previous ERJ models. The twin-engine aircraft is in direct competition with Bombardier’s Challenger 850 series, and operates in more than 20 countries. While the Legacy 600 holds 13 passengers, the newer, shorter-range Legacy Shuttle can seat as many as 37.
