Gulstream’s G500 series is a direct descendant of the Gulfstream V, a forerunner in the ultra-long range business jet class. The Savannah, Ga.-built aircraft are certainly made for long-distance flying: The G500 model travels up to 5,800 nautical miles (6,675 miles) non-stop, while the G550, equipped with more fuel storage, can make it over 6,700 nautical miles (7,710 miles). Two Rolls-Royce BR710 engines help make the G550 the longest-range business jet on the market, powering flights from Chicago to Rome and Los Angeles to Sydney with 10 to 14 passengers. The G500 and G550 fly for the U.S. Air Force and Navy, and NetJets operates some in its business-jet rental fleet.
