Cessna's Citation X lays claim to one of aviation’s more powerful titles, with its Mach 0.92 maximum speed making it the fastest business jet in the world — at least until the slightly faster Gulfstream 650 comes around, or the potential new generation of supersonic business jets. The original Citation family got its start back in the 1960s, and since then Cessna has rolled out a number of Citation families. The X has its roots in older Citation models — the III, VI, and VII — but has significantly different wing, engine and cockpit design. Since the delivery of the first Citation X in 1997 (to golfer Arnold Palmer), more than 250 have been built.
